We ordered the 3 cup chicken which was delicious. The beef we ordered was just as good. Ordered a rice noodle dish as I craved noodles. Next time will stick with pot of rice to go with dishes. They specialize in meat, seafood dishes. We had the fried bread which is a little sweet but very good. Not a fan of prawns but tasted one, was good. My son friend polished them off. Prices were reasonable. It was a Sun night and place was full and a constant stream of take out orders. Highly recommend this place.
Our first visit to Kalvin’s and wont be our last. Amazing food, service was terrific. Husband and wife run operation with hands on personalized service.
The 10 of us enjoyed a very nice Taiwanese dinner with the owner joining us. The restaurant began in 1993 and struggled at first to attract diners to this style of cuisine but 6 months later had a following where 3 generations of a family would now come. Simple, delicious home cooking. All the dishes we had were very good, and could be spicier if you can handle it. We preordered minced prawn in lettuce wrap and the fish head in soup. We also had pork potstickers, deep fried pork skirt meat, on choy with bean curd, bread with condensed milk, crispy salty peppery chicken, pork blood and intestine in 5 s9pice sauce, chicken in 3 spice, clams, and finished off with a taro pancake. Pay street parking is available on Victoria. The food came out very quickly. 2 sittings weeknights and 3 sittings on weekends.
We tried their noodle at lunch. Service was good and polite. Their frozen dim sum is excellent in quality and price. I will highly recommend that.
This restaurant has been here for awhile... the owner refused to expand because he wants to make sure the quality of food is maintained. It is run by a husband wife team together with their other employees- we have been coming to this place for eons. We never had a bad dish even their lunch specials are good, some of the lunch specials comes with their yummy egg drop soup. They have a good decent menu with appetizers, mains, veggies (seasonal veggie dishes available), noodles, soup. They have some special dishes that needs to be ordered in advance- one of the us the braised pork hock... it is done so well that the meat is so tender falls of the bone when you cut it. The other is the shrimp with lettuce wrap. These two are our favourites. Their smoked duck is good but we did not order it for this meal. Reservation is a must for weekdays particularly weekends, staff are friendly even when they are very busy. There is something for everyone, do not be daunted by the fact that most of the patrons are of Asian descent- that means the food is very good!
