One of my guest kept asking her for water and it was never brought except for excuses like “oh, we are just refilling the jugs”. Ended with us grabbing a water off another table. At the end of the night when we were ready to pay, our server finally clued in and said “did you need more water?” Never got clean plates after our appies so again, we grabbed clean plates off a another table. Ordered a second round of drinks and it took forever to get. When we tracked our server down asking about the drinks, she said “they are not made yet, the bar is backed up” but we clearly could see them sitting on the bar waiting to be brought to us. Felt we basically had to serve ourselves and our server never took accountability but kept blaming her other co-workers. I'm highly disappointed as I brought some friends who never been here and I spent the car ride raving about Nuba only to be disappointed by the lack of service and my friends telling me they would never come back to this location.
Food was delicious and the server was friendly and doing her best. Food came quickly, but then drinks sat on the bar counter for about 15 minutes waiting to be served. We were not seated at a table until 50 minutes after our reservation time. We were able to order drinks at the bar while waiting and serving staff were friendly.
The food was very tasty but a very small portion size of lamb for main course. Lots of potatoes and bread to make it look bigger. Roasted cauliflower and homous was delicious.
Nuba in Gastown feels like a speakeasy due to it 's location on Hasting 's street and entrance that has you walking down a particular few steps to it 's kind of Hidden underground location. However, this is just the unconventional charm this place has. It certainly has delicious healthy Lebanese food for both meat eaters vegetarians alike. It 's a casual experience, but an experience no doubt!
The music was so loud, we couldn't hear each other! The food was extremely mediocre (dry and flavourless)! Halloumi cheese felt like it was microwaved frozen paneer from the grocery store with flavourless paprika sprinkled on top. Server was friendly, but didn't have much to recommend! We were sat right next to the bus/dish pit, so it added even more noise! Most of their wines were out of stock! Food looked nice, but tasted like nothing. If you're looking for an upper scale vegetarian-friendly spot downtown, I still wouldn't recommend this place.
