We stopped into Portland Craft around 5:30 and just made happy hour. The beer menu is amazing. As the name suggest many of the beers on tap come from Oregon - mainly Portland. As an big fan of IPA's this was wonderful news to me. There were also many other beer types on tap - from Oregon and many craft breweries from British Columbia. Definitely a great stop for beer lovers! We didn't try th efood but it looked good. The place had a real friendly feel to it - with long live edge wooden tables - good for rubbing elbows with friends and strangers. This will become a regular stop for me whenever I am in Vancouver!
I love the selection of beers at this restaurant, which is an obvious statement. Not so obvious- really good bar food, menu changes often so I don't get bored though I've been here a few times. Service is good, but they're always busy, so understandable. I love the space too, super high ceilings, perfect lighting and layout, also a great crowd, just seems like down to earth people hanging out, nothing pretentious.
Had a quiet lunch there this past week. Great beer list very friendly service but the food was just okay. Chopped salad was a bowl of rough cut lettuce and veg with a flavourless dressing. Not really a chopped salad by definition. Hush puppies were good crisp and tasty. Veggie pizza was probably one of the worse pizzas I have had in awhile. Soggy with no flavour. Chicken was good but not memorable to say the least. Room was not busy so the ambience was off a little. The décor is typical pub style not real comfortable for a restaurant. I must add that I have had better meals in the past.
The beer selection is very good. Admittedly, you can find a broader section of local craft brews at a chain like Tap & Barrel, but the ones featured here are more obscure and would be of interest to real enthusiasts. And the blackboard chart on the wall rating each beer by both percentage of alcohol and IBUs is a further attraction for real beer fans. The ground floor, however, is almost all hi-tops, with just a few booths. The service is slow, and while pleasant, is not actually very good. The menu is just so-so; the crab hush puppies were okay, but the crab was undetectable. The "pork and beans" was quite good, but - like some of the other "Share Plates" - wasn't really a good choice for sharing, particularly on the small, hi-top table.I had looked at the menu online before visiting, and thought that they had just refrained from posting the dessert menu, but in fact they have no dessert whatsoever, which I find astonishing. I don't know if I have ever been in any restaurant in North America that had no desserts.
