The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and my son absolutely loved the sushi. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned the next day with our entire family. Don't hesitate to give this place a try - you won't be disappointed.
I decided to have lunch at this restaurant while exploring the area. The lunch menu prices seemed very reasonable and the menu had a lot of options to choose from. I was seated promptly and the server was friendly, although communication was a bit difficult as I do not speak Japanese. I tried the Miso soup to start, but found it bland and not very appetizing. I then ordered the beef teriyaki over fried rice, which was a little too sweet for my taste. While the portion was generous, I didn't particularly enjoy the dish. Considering the price, I may come back to try other menu items in the future.
This Mom/Pop-Ramenplatz has excellent attentive service. the prices are very good. the parts are large. the rave is good. overall a good place and great value.
I was disappointed with this restaurant, possibly because of the veggie broth. There are many great ramen places in Vancouver, and this one didn't stand out to me. The bowl didn't have much to offer, and the cauliflower tasted frozen. The veggie broth was uninspiring, and I couldn't even finish the dish (which is rare for me). I had high hopes for this meal but left feeling unsatisfied. The bathroom had a strange smell that should be addressed. I won't be returning, I'll stick to the ramen joints on Robson street instead.
Was a regular patron during the late 80's 90's but then business took me away from the core. Had they been open in the evenings I'm sure I would have kept in touch but, like most places in the CBD, it's tough to keep...busy when the chains have the market locked down. But enough of that. This place is the epitome of consistency. In addict terms, was a regular user or their Chicken teriyaki, Spicy Ramen, Yakisoba and Gyoza. Probably a few other items, too but those are the ones that I had most often. Service is great but check your timing as noon-1 PM will most often have you waiting in line, stomachs grumbling as you see and smell everyone else's food arriving. And if you're thinking take out, I'd advise courtesy by ordering early 11:30 or earlier, or wait until after the rush. BTW, after 2 is generally nice and quiet (they close at 4 not open on weekends). My meal today was again the spicy ramen and Gyoza. Same great taste, excellent soup broth noodles. Gyoza, served with a sauce that I thought was chilli oil was again, reminiscent of years ago. It's like walking down the street and smelling an old girlfriends' perfume takes you back and makes you smile. There is quite a variety in the menu including curries, other rice noodle dishes, tempura and even sushi. I have my favourites as mentioned above but I'm a creature of habit. Bottom line is that I think you'd have a hard time going wrong here. Found myself a new late(or early) lunch stop. Now about that old girlfriend...
