The only downside we noticed is the yam roll was a bit plain having only yam in it.We will definitely be back.
I haven't eaten much sushi but certainly enjoyed this meal. This place isn't an obvious choice and it was quiet when we went (on a Monday evening). We ordered lots of different rolls, tempura and teriyaki between us. Everything arrived quickly and was tasty, the overall bill for four of us was a pleasant surprise.
We popped in for a quick meal before a show. I was expecting cheap, quickie sushi, but I was genuinely surprised by how good some of the house rolls were. Rolls we ordered were topped with fairly thick cuts of salmon sashimi, or big fat slices of ripe avocado. One roll also came with these sort of deep fried yam flakes (for lack of a better description) sprinkled on top that were a great touch. All of it tasted great. The waitress was nice and prompt, and refilled teas and waters without us needing to ask. She popped up with the bill almost as soon as she'd cleared our plates. I would definitely try this place again if I'm in the neighbourhood.
Newer little restaurant in Cambie Village that replaced a little satay place that was there for several years. A few of my neighbours commented on how much they had enjoyed their meals and felt it was far superior to the long time Japanese restaurant across the street, so we checked it out. I found it bizarre that a place that will do a lot of take out doesn't have a website with menu so we walked over to order out. Their menu was very creative and large with both standard Japanese fare as well as lists of rolls of many types. We ordered 3 rolls plus a meal combo. Staff were friendly, welcoming and courteous. Prices were fair and portions on the large side, we thought. The food was fresh and made very quickly. We just can't give it a huge rating as the food just wasn't delicious. It kind of lacked flavour. Just not a lot of zip. We will try it again as maybe our choices just weren't the best but for tonight our feeling is that it was moderately good.
My brother brought us here for lunch. It was really terrific. Everything was very fresh and delicious. There is a really good lunch special. It was 7.95. We went on a Sunday afternoon and got seated immediately. The special includes Miso soup, just the right amount and extremely invigoration after a long walk through the hot city. A crisp, refreshing salad , and delicious noodle soup, ( I forgot which one, I just followed by brothers order ) I added a side order of tempura vegetables. My sister and I remarked on the crispness of the batter. Obviously they were cooking in exceptionally clean oil ( one of my pet peeves is burnt oil ) The batter for the tempura was light, crisp and a little sweet. All to my taste. Congrats to this little place. They made our day. Thank you
