The restaurant is beautifully decorated and serves incredibly delicious and unique dishes. The peppers with fruit were a standout, as well as their umami risotto which we couldn't get enough of. We also appreciate the opportunity to save a bit during happy hour. The only downside is that it can be a bit pricey, especially since the dishes are tapas-sized, but that's to be expected with tapas. Overall, definitely worth a visit!
We were pleased with all of the dishes and drinks we ordered today. The waitress was also very friendly.
The service at this restaurant was inconsistent, with one server being highly informed and friendly, while another was indifferent. Despite the lack of customers, both servers took their time checking on us. However, the food was a huge disappointment. We ordered the chef's menu for my friend's birthday, starting with a tasty parsnip ginger soup for the amuse bouche. Things started to go downhill when we were served floppy prawns that were off-putting and left a lingering pungent aftertaste. The prawns were replaced with a charcuterie board of greasy salamis, followed by a plate of cold, bland steak with a room temperature pepper puree. The beet panzanella salad had an overpowering vinegar taste, and the dessert was an unimpressive banana ice cream cake. The wine pairings were delicious, but the offer to bring the labels for a photo was forgotten. I only complained about the prawns to avoid spoiling my friend's birthday. Overall, the $55 per person menu seemed to consist of using up leftover vegetables and serving cold, discount proteins. I had hoped to treat my friend on a budget but was left feeling humiliated for bringing her to this restaurant.
My friend and I were just killing some time before an event and decided to check out this place. We had some wine and the warm cauliflower dip. It was delicious! It's one of my favorite things now. Great wine too. Reasonable prices. I will definitely be going back to try the charcuterie plates.
VV Tapas Lounge crafts one of the best charcuterie boards in Vancouver, and they have a $10 version during Happy Hour! This spot is easy to miss on Hastings Street just before Downtown, but it's worth swinging by for a great wine and food selection. The Wild Mushroom Risotto is incredibly decadent and packed with umami mushroom flavour. The yolk sauce really ups the richness. This is a must get dish for me.One of the highlights of VV Tapas Lounge is their build your own charcuterie boards. You can choose from 4 $29), 6 $38) or 8 $47) cheese and meat options. All boards are served with house-made pickles, nuts, olives, condiments and bread. And let me tell you, as a charcuterie connoisseur they have some of the best accompaniments I have ever had.
