Here is the basis for my rating: Food: 4 stars Service: 1 star Value: 1 star Wine list is okay, you can find a glass of wine there for €10. I ordered salmon tartar as an appetizer and reindeer as my entree. I was both surprised and concerned when salmon tartar showed up. On the plate, there was a tiny amount of salmon, just a bit more than one single piece of sashimi in any of the Japanese restaurants in the USA, thinly sliced, with some sort of elevated soy sauce. All for €13 ultra expensive for what it is even with the low exchange rate as it is now. My concern was about a size of entree, and once it was delivered, my concern was justified. Two pieces of meat, each a size of index finger of an average adult male, with a spoon of some sort of mashed vegetable and two tiny roasted carrots. All for €30. The meat was excellent, but seriously, that amount of food for the price? Beyond ridiculous. And I don 't want to hear about those Americans and their food portions . I was not expecting a Cheesecake Factory salad size but this was definitely a light appetizer size dish. In the restaurant at the airport hotel. Not a Michelin starred establishment in the center of Helsinki. I travel around the world. I 've seen all sorts of dishes. This was the worst ever value, by far. And then, the service. The waitress was so unwelcoming that I don 't even know how to describe it. She was beyond unhappy just from the fact that she was present there. Her facial expression suggested that this was the last place on earth where she wanted to be at the moment. Not good at all. Bottom line avoid this restaurant. If you are hungry, there is a supermarket, right inside a terminal on the way to the hotel. For the price of this entree, you can get at least 3 sandwiches. And a drink. And you will feel very smart about yourself.
Service here is very professional. Day and night. Food is consistent. Reliable. Some nice surprises at dinner time and on the special menu. I mean it's just and airport hotel restaurant right? Not! Way better. At times when the full menu isn't available they always have the Hilton Classics menus. Hilton burger, club sandwich, Cesar salad with chicken. Shrimp salad. Etc. reliable. Breakfast buffet is a well done full European buffet.
The food was great but the server is a bit cold from what I have experienced here in Helsinki and Finland in general. Manager seated me right next to a couple even though there are many open tables. So I sat right next to a stranger in a booth. So that was uncomfortable for us both. I could hear everything they talked about. Took forever to get my check. Well, that is an exaggeration, but it was a long time. Was expecting better.
Now I'm not usually one to complain but this place made me shake my head. I was with two other coworkers on a business trip. We were 3 men from Canada. One decided on steak and two of us decided on Reindeer. The waiter suggested we get the whitefish app. We agreed. I eat pretty much anything but I was a bit disappointed when it showed up raw. We had sushi the night before so I wasn't really into it but it was still decent. We waited another 30 minutes for mains.(the place was not busy). The steak came first with a small side of fries and then the reindeer came after with only one side of fries. The waiter looked like a reindeer in headlights when I asked him where my fries were. I assume it was expected that we share. Disappointing enough that this fancy reindeer main came with fries, he brought another bowl of fries and we both got charged 5.90eu for side fries on top of the 35eu reindeer. The reindeer was good but there was only 2 pieces a little bit bigger than a twix bar.. I bought a bag of kettle chips to bring back to my hotel room. Thanks be to Santa Claus that I can expense this meal...
