Societen Varberg

We went to the restaurant in the early afternoon on Midsummer's Day. The staff handled the large number of customers well, especially when a sudden rain shower caught everyone by surprise. The only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the mussels ordered by our friends were cold. Apart from that, the food quality and presentation were excellent.

Great place to visit just for the ambiance. The wine list is limited, but the menu is well-curated. The staff, aside from the head waitress, are inexperienced but still do a good job. Managed to get a table without a reservation on a busy night. Avoid the pricey Moet Chandon champagne. The slow-cooked lamb was delicious. The ambiance truly sets this place apart.

Societen is an institution in Varberg and was for many many years the place for entertainment, many generations have spent their youth summer frequenting this establishment. Some years ago refurbishment and renovations were carried out bringing Societen back to its former glory and its is absolutely fabulous- you can feel the wings of history. There is an ambience to the place that is just so welcoming and friendly. We were a larger group of both young and old and the play ground to the side was a blessing for the parents as it kept the children (3-12 years old) well entrained and exercise between courses which was need as service was rather slow (probably due to us being a very large group). The menu is perfectly selected and the food absolutely delicious and well presented , unfortunately there were some mix up with orders resulting in a missing starter and that in junction with the slow service is the reason for the review score of 4 rather than 5. The service staff is very accommodating and helpful. We hope to come back again very soon.

Beautiful personal and beautiful location on the sea and near a park for children. delicious food and remarkable seafood.
