Proper old Spanish seafood restaurant, fresh food, quick service, great value. Well worth a visit, but gets busy at weekends especially favourite with Spanish families.
This is the go to place for good value high quality food in Torre. The lubina la plancha abierto is sweet creamy and garlicy. And for a fried fish fest go for the Malaga fritos. Spanish frequent here and on sundays it heaves with people. More reviews would move it up the tripadvisor lists I’m sure. Oh and the Gambas a Pil pil is excellent bread dipping fodder.
Although it´s a small restaurant, it should have a BIG reputation. We´ve been a couple of times recently and the lenguado (sole is second to none big, thick, perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of oil, garlic and parsley and the chips are divine!!! It´s not posh, but really busy at lunchtimes (not till about 2.30 though this is Spain, after all! The prices are reasonable most fish dishes are around 9 euros and the wine and beer come in at around 3.50 (pint and 2.50 euros respectively. We generally say that if a restaurant is full of Spanish people, then you know it is going to be good, and this is always full of Spanish families. The tapas look fab too, and the paella that was served today was loaded with prawns and mussels. Yum.
We go to El Timon regularly and it is frequented by many Spanish people. The fish is excellent and they have a very good choice at reasonable prices. They also have an excellent tapas range located inside the bar. Paella is served on Thurs and Sundays, which has always been excellent when we have tried it. Would recommend you book a table on Sunday lunch as it can get manic. Service is always efficient and drinks reasonably priced. The restaurant is easily found on the Promenade.
