Visualizza tutti i feedback.
Visualizza tutti i feedback.

This was our only dinner in Venice and the restaurant did a great job accommodating us. Our service was really great. The food was good and the company excellent. There was plenty of wine that went along with our meal. I forget how much we paid our tour manager for it but it was an add-on excursion as opposed to an included meal. The food was good though. If you're ever on a Contiki tour, do the food add-ons because they are worthwhile. There's no wait and they expect a big group versus being ill-prepared. We had a selection of: cheeses, roasted vegetables, pasta (2 kinds), meat potatoes with salad, and a dessert which is classic Venetian cuisine, we were told. Since I was at a table for four with only two people who drank wine, we had plenty to imbibe. No surprise that we ended up passing our wine along to another table because we couldn't finish it all. It was already paid for and we couldn't take it with us! I had a great time with all the people I had met on my trip. Good dinner, great experience.
This is a review of the special Festa Redentore Feast night July 15, 2017 at San Giorgio, not their regular menu. 6 months before our trip I found out we 'd booked time in Venice during the big Redentore festival with it 's fireworks etc and sorta panicked because we 're not really into crowds. I started looking for restaurants offering a special meal with a view of the fireworks included so we wouldn 't have to brave the crowds in St. Marks Square. All I could find were the big chain hotels with 200-250 Euro per person deals which was WAY out of our budget. Found nothing. 2 months before our trip I did stumble upon a review not on Yelp but on TripAdvisor that mentioned the San Giorgio as being a great place to watch the Redentore fireworks. The Yelp reviews were not much help, but as they were on The Fork, I made reservations for the latest time available on that night, 9:00 and hoped for the best. Fast forward to a week before the festival, the restaurant emailed me to notify me that the night I 'd picked was a special night and it was a pre fixe menu for 80 euros each, and here 's the menu. Well the menu looked great and it was less than half the other places so I confirmed my reservation. We scouted out the place which is right on the lagoon across from the Arsenale dock. In the morning it 's just a pile of tables all locked together to a couple of furls umbrellas. No sign. Really had second thoughts. Festa Redentore night we arrived at 8:30 and the place was all put together and looking fantastic. We asked if we could be seated early for drinks and they were more than happy to oblige. From the moment we sat, the service was phenomenal. We got the Wifi password and the bottle of Prosecco that came with the meal plus a Fanta fro our 15 year old niece. The menu was pretty much all seafood since it 's Venice and it was all fantastic. Each course came out about every 20 to 25 minutes. Here 's the email they sent with the menu: You have booked a table via the the fork website: We inform you that during that evening we will only be serving an €80,00 per person menu, that will be composed by: -Starter of Schie (small shrimps) with polenta; -Mixed fish appetizer with: sarde in saor, smoked salmon, creamy cod, octopus salad, baked scallop, and prawns with herbs sauce; -First course with ravioli filled with seabass in a sauce of shrimps and arugula; -Another first course with gnocchi with marlin, capers, black olives and tomatoes; -Main course with turbot fillet with vegetables; -Dessert with chocolate mousse; -Water and a bottle of sparkling white wine or regular white wine every two people. We kindly ask you to confirm your reservation if the menu suits you. Best Regards, Ristorante San Giorgio Every single dish they brought out was fantastic especially the Mixed fish appetizer which was gorgeous (see the pics). The main course came out just as the fireworks began at 11:30 and the dessert just as they were finishing up at around 12:15. The view of the fireworks is perfect. Front and center with no obstructions and prosecco! The only complaint I have is that they really should have posted a sign at the entrance stating that the restaurant was fully books so no you may not come in and watch the fireworks from our tables. There was a constant flow of folks trying to get in. I have no idea how good this place is for lunch or regular dinner, but if your find yourself needing a place to watch the fireworks during the yearly Festa Redentore, make reservations a couple months in advance for 9pm. NOTE: I updated the address in Yelp for them but not sure when it will be accepted. They are on the lagoon next to the Arsenale boat dock.
