Cafe Zack - Ventura

The atmosphere is dated and lacks comfort in a variety of ways. All the photos of the food above have the exact same side of vegetables and they even lack seasoning; there is zero imagination or innovation on the menu and the execution is is just enough to get by. Their website is down so you can’t look at the menu. We were looking forward to trying the lobster appetizer and it left a lot to be desired seeing as how it was canned dark yellow corn. VERY disappointing. They fit the 2 person tables into the leftover room in the restaurant. By that I mean that they put large parties (8 people on one side that night) on the ends while smashing 2 small tables between them and it’s just flat out NOISY. We were out for my birthday and could not wait to leave. It would have been worth asking for our money back it was all sooooo bad. It’s not personal but it is unforgivable. Not even worth a free meal

We had the seafood curry and ribeye followed by a chocolate cake and side of homemade vanilla ice cream. The food was prepared in high quality and delicious fashion by a real chef! The table service was the level that fine dining should have, too. This is a quaint restaurant perfect for celebrating a date night with its romantic atmosphere. The lights are dimmed too low for reading the menu and it would benefit from ac. Overall it was excellent food and lovely!

I love local restaurants and enjoy supporting them but what I love more is people not taking advantage! My husband brought his work crew here for going away party and my husband chose this place because he 's tried it before, likes their food and seating area so we came here. It was a large group. I really enjoyed their food to say the least. One thing I did not like was the overcharging! I thought that was ridiculous!! we had a very small cake for the going away and they charged us to cut the cake to probably 10 pieces $25-$35 when the cake itself was probably $30. I was annoyed about that part but was not able to say anything since we had guests with us. food is good, but I am not a fan of people taking advantage when you 've spent close to $800. SO I will take my business elsewhere to another local restaurant!
