Restaurant la Vache - Verbier

Really good Pizza, which up until this season filled the plate. Now they have shrunk them. A big mistake

Superb views from the terrace, however, the service is extremely slow and unwelcoming to put it diplomatically.While the restaurant inside was empty and the terrace half empty, we waited 5 minutes to have someone taking care of us to get seated. In fact at least 6 waiters passed by and completely ignored us. When finally someone approached us he told us that they would not have a table for our party (maybe because we had some young kids with us.) as all tables would be reserved an hour later. We argued that we would be gone in a hour and also happy to sit inside, but without any apology we were simply told there is no way we could be served and shown the door. It was one of the most unwelcoming restaurant experiences I ever had and clearly never experienced anything like that anywhere else in Verbier. Luckily, there is a lot of choice and next door in the Olympic building you are warmly welcomed and treated like a guest. The terrace (incl. upstairs) have equally stunning views.A pity that such a nice location gets ruined by how customers are treated. Nomen est omen.

Restos tres bling bling with pleasant service, well placed, map and kitchen of good quality but expensive for what it is, nice terrace.

The restaurant was almost empty and yet still we had very poor service and varying food experiences in our group.We ordered a bottle of wine which we felt was expensive and when it came, was only a 50cl! The same wine by the glass worked out cheaper which was really bizarre! We were not allowed a jug of tap water so the waiter had to keep coming over to re-fill our water glasses (from the jug on the bar!.) The food order was finally taken by a very stressed waitress and the meals were average for the price. My salads nicoise had no potato and only a smattering of tinned tuna. Very poor. This restaurant is form over function and until it improves, we will not be skiing 30 km to go there!

What a shame and I hate to do this but every time I've tried this restaurant the service has been so slow, never enough staff and the food isn't good enough. Today we stopped at 1.30 and our food arrived nearly an hour later. I had the Reine Pizza and it was so salty. Being hungry I struggled through half of it and gave up and had a terrible thirst for the rest of the afternoon which is not great when skiing. When I asked to speak to the manager ( who was nowhere to be seen when his staff desperately needed help ) he just laughed at me and did not take the complaints seriously. He for starters should be sacked. The concept of La Vache was a very good one but it has to be run properly and it is not. There were quite a few complaints and those on the table next to us asked for some bread with their Assiette Valaisanne to be told they had run out. Their main course was completely forgotten about. This restaurant needs urgent attention from the owners because reputation is everything. I spend 4-5 weeks in this area every year and eat in many of the Mountain restaurants and this was by far the worst meal. We'd had problems last year and only returned because we thought they would have improved, they have not. My 2 favourites in the Verbier area are Marmotte and Sonalon. Always a great meal, efficient service delivered with a smile and fabulous sunny terraces. La Vache offered no reduction in our bill until one of our party suggested it might be a good idea, so we had 30chf knocked off.
