Porkys Place Backyard Bbq - Vergennes

I had heard fantastic things about this restaurant, and when my sister raved about it too, I knew I had to check it out! I ordered a regular calzone, and it was enormous—about half the size of a large pizza! The crust was beautifully crispy on the outside and wonderfully chewy on the inside, with just the right amount of cheesy filling. I also tried the fried cabbage, which had a nice kick from the red pepper and was freshly fried... I loved it! I can't wait to try a sub or a cheeseburger next time. I'm so happy to have another pizza option in Vergennes! Thank you!

When one of my employees mentioned a barbecue option for lunch, I didn’t hesitate to send the crew out for it. Who doesn't love BBQ? Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. I understand that pulled pork can have some fat, but this was excessive—I could barely take a bite without gagging. I only gave it 2 stars because the fries were pretty good, and I bet they would be even better when fresh (rather than eaten 15 minutes after they were ready). I wanted to attach a photo of the sandwich to illustrate my point, but I was unable to do so. I decided to update my review because three of us ordered, and the other two were very pleased with their meals. So, I've added another star!

I can't even describe how amazing the pulled pig is at this point. The chef obviously knows what they do and the staff is nothing less friendly and gracious. Thank you for your AMAZING cooking and congratulations on the new location!

The food is incredible, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and this place truly offers authentic, down-to-earth home cooking!

Poutine was so good! Pulled pork was tender. Absolutely recommend eating here
