We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast on the terrace then a walk to the river, pithy it was too cold to take a bath in the pool, maybe next time.
Would recommend le couvent des cordeliers on the basis of our only visit (previously). with French friends and they also found it perfect. service friendly, efficient and helpful, but not intrusive. simple, with regard to the choices, but very fanciful and well-designed dishes professionally...combined with fresh ingredients. something for all, including vegetarians. the wine list is also very simple, based on a well selected house red, white and a rosé in carafe. we paid a very reasonable 36€ per head (I'm not sure why another review found it 'overpriced', especially given the setting and the charming restored building and beautiful garden . they also seem to do English tees from the afternoon. would gladly return if it were not for the more often hour drive from our holiday home.
I received a warm welcome from my host. looked outside on a quiet Sunday in the city verteuil, somewhere in the region charentes. we sat outside and talked to the owner who was very urban. my cucumber and I had the spicy pumpkin soup with ceps. on toast, very tasty, much taste. our chauffeur had the lamb that looked very delicious. sitting at the river was only magical, and the owner then showed us the very old krypta used for the new years eve celebrations. I just wish I lived closer!
Stumbled across this lovely hotel restaurant this summer. Such a fantastic fairytale place! And the food was just brilliant. So good to find good quality vegetarian choices especially in France. Well done. We'll be back!
