The atmosphere was electric, the food was delicious, and the servers went above and beyond to make our experience fantastic! The Zydeco Catfish is an absolute “must try” and the tuna dip with tiger sauce is always a favorite to start things off! If you haven’t gone to this location (or any other Cajun Steamer location) RUN, don’t walk there!
I was served not fully cooked red potatoes with steamed mussels. The 1 star is deserved for a restaurant that specializes in seafood boils.I told the server and demonstrated that the red potatoes (all of them) were hard. She indicated on 5/28/2022 that is how Cajun Steamer Cahaba Heights serve red potatoes.I stated, I will take them home and cook the red potatoes some more The server was okay with that solution. SMH.But the servers are nice and welcoming. For now.
We tried this place for lunch and were pleased overall with the experience. We had the Pick 2 Fried Platter with catfish, oysters, and okra excellent! The Bourbon Street Fetticini also excellent! It isn't spicy so it's perfect for kids and my kids loved it. Lastly we had the Cajun Trio with crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, and red beans and rice disappointing. : The crawfish etouffee didn't have any crawfish. It was just a light spicy roux with too much salt. The jambalaya just wasn't good- it was too dark and thick and the flavor was off. Ended up throwing it away. The red beans and rice were the least disappointing of the three and it was just ok. Those three dishes are staples of cajun cuisine so it's disappointing that a cajun resturant didn't get them right. Overall my experience was good and I look forward to trying other items.
The mahi was extremely overcooked and dry. The mussels were delicious; however, 7 of them were not opened, and were thoughtlessly served anyway. The waitress never cleared our dishes when we were through. The coconut rice was extremely sweet...not good. Overall, not a good experience.
My friend asked me to check the latest place in the city. I'm from louisiana, I love my seafood. I have a good oel shell made of red beans and rice. the andouille was on the spot! the girlfriend got the fire shrimp tacos and loved her absolutely. ends the night with some brotpudding and amazing service. jordan, one of the manager I believe has checked us and made sure that the night was done. Thank you and we will definitely come back!
