In Francesinhas - Viana do Castelo

I had no idea what a francesinha was before happening upon this little place just around the corner from our hotel. I am so glad we decided to try this rather than the fancy restaurant we were supposed to go to. The food is fresh, the meat had been grilled just before the dish was prepared (there was still pink in the middle of the steak), the fries were cut on site and went really well with the homemade sauce. The alvarinho was top notch. Our server, Dennis, was very friendly, professional, and efficient without making the guest feel rushed. He had an instant raport with local and international guests alike. My wife had heard that every one who visits Portugal should try a Francesinha at least once. I suggest you do it here.

Whilst wandering around Viana do Castelo and looking for somewhere for lunch, my daughter suggested that we had lunch at IN Francesinhas she had eaten there before on a previous visit to the town. The restaurant was fairly quiet so we were able to find a seat outside. Our waiter was patient as our group of four decided what to have from the menu. Eventually three us us went for the Francesinhas the restaurants speciality. On arrival it was excellent, I had tried Francesinhas once before but this one was was far better. I now understand why the restaurant has its name. The staff were also very friendly and help and our meal was also reasonably priced.

Group of 6 had lunch and it was brilliant! Fantastic service, extremely friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Highly recommended.

Bonjour, très bonne réception, servi assez vite, le petit appartement, c'est que les francesinhas, n'étaient pas assez chauds, niveau de qualité, même s'ils étaient bons, j'ai mangé quelques-uns des meilleurs, même si ces prix étaient très raisonnables.

Very close to the main road, but still quiet. They have both internal and external seats. The staff spoke very well English and were really polite and attentive the day I visited. I went for the Francesinha in Picante, this is the spicy version. It was really delicious and the spicy sauce was really good with it. I was offered more sauce during my meal by one of the staff. Fries were freshly cooked and crispy, definitely not frozen. The part was a really good size, I almost tried to finish everything, fortunately I skipped breakfast this morning. You also have desert options that I have not tried on this occasion. Your coffee is great, and I must say thank you to the man who looks around me as I accidentally spilled all my coffee after I got it and he cleaned my mess and gave me another coffee for free or free. I enjoyed the meal and the treatment I got when I visit the city again I will definitely return for another meal!
