The food was probably OK, but frankly, by the time it arrived, we were too annoyed to enjoy it. We had planned on a quick lunch with our family while we were on Granville Island and then planned to head downtown to visit some other local spots. But by the time we finished our lunch, the afternoon was gone. Our server did nothing but make excuses for the slowness. ("The kitchen is slammed", there was a "Miscommunication with the staff", etc. She even tried to tell me that I had ordered the meal in a confusing way!!) She eventually stopped coming to the table. It was clear we weren't the only ones in there with an issue. People were getting up and leaving after being ignored for so long. Perhaps this was an isolated incident, but it absolutely ruined our entire day.
I would absolutely come back here. There were a few things that keep this from being a 5 star review, but we didn't have nearly the experiences that some people describe here. First, the positive: Seated promptly at an outdoor table by a friendly hostess. My teenager enjoyed her burger, and we both thought the fries were great (creamy inside, crispy outside). I enjoyed some of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. Now the negative: The server was completely disorganized. He upsold me to add some guacamole, and never brought it (even after he returned to check on us and was asked to bring it again). The watermelon martini was tasty, but not cold enough. All in all, it was very good food in a very nice atmosphere (outside - we didn't go inside).
Some friends and I stopped in to watch a Women's World Cup game on a sunny Saturday. Even though Granville Island was packed it wasn't very busy between 3 and 5 while we were there. Our first server was super friendly and talkative, but when her shift ended it took quite a while before our new server came to our table. Overall service was decent but not great. Pretty sure they overcharged us for our drinks too because we were told it was happy hour but our bill showed full price. I didn't realize that until afterwards. The fish and chips looked good, but was pretty expensive, as were most of the menu items. Still, it was a nice place and it was good to escape the crowd and relax and watch some sports.
Went here for a light dinner. Had Thai soup, cowboy salad and garlic toast. The soup was delicious but really rich. The salad was a delight. My companion has the chicken quesadilla. She loved it. Good value, nice atmosphere!
