I have changed many of this place, but one day I needed lunch in the city and try to do low carb and reasonable budget, I decided to try this place as they offer breakfast items throughout the day. I got a nice table. the window, and waitress brought me the tee I had asked, hallelujah it was made with boiling water made real teetrinkers know how often we get “hot water “ tee. when she took my order, she could change my meal I ordered the low carb breakfast by swirling in mushrooms for tomato I can not eat tomato due allergy and did it with a smile! my meal was perfectly simple, but well cooked, just as I wanted it! meal was more reasonable price, service was great, what is not to like!?
This place is just a short walk from the main foods of the city center, and its small facade means that it can be overlooked, but it is definitely worth a try. We had breakfast 'special' salmon with eggs, spinach, potatoes toast. The plate looked small, but... this was VERY filling and the spuds were cooked to perfection (not too salty or oily.) The toast is (apparently) made in the house and is dense and tasty. Another customer had an omelet that also looked delicious. We were impressed how clean everything was. During a slow time (we were there at the end of their day) one of the staff cleaning each piece was cutlery, which meant that they were not the usual water spots from the dishwasher and each item was impeccable. I think it is the attention to detail that distinguishes a food from the rest. The food is good as others have mentioned their less busy/busy than the nearby Blue Fox, and the staff is also very friendly.
Yesterday we went to Blue Fox Cafe and had to prepare to hit the crowd. You can read our review of this place... some heights and some depths. This morning we went to Avalon... this is a small, family-run breakfast place on the same street. We had the Avalon breakfast (egg, bacon and potatoes and toast) and the 3-Egg-Omlet. Both were fresh and delicious and prepared in the second. The Omelet was great, with up to 4 ingredients you choose. The sausage and bacon were both good, and the oat bread they make is pretty nice with strawberry rhubarb jam (which they also make). Sooo, nowhere near like classic or as hip as Blue Fox, but the food is pretty good, and the place is WAY more covered... so why get up so early in the morning to wait in the line?
All the meals we had were tasty, nicely presented and substantial. Very friendly helpful staff. Comfortable surroundings and excellent value. We will certainly mark this on our favourites list.
