We visited lovely Porto in early May, and had dinner at this restaurant our last evening. Everything about our experience was pretty much perfect. The building and grounds are just lovely, and the food was excellent and well-presented. Perhaps the best part of our experience was our waiter Paolo, who treated us as though he was welcoming us into his own home. As other reviewers have experienced, we also got a tour of the house after dinner. We would recommend this restaurant to others as a "must see". I should note that we were there on 6 May, and the property was definitely not closed, so not sure why others say the restaurant has closed down.

We were welcomed the minute we arrived.Given a tour of the wonderful house built in 1850. It is set in lovely tranquil gardens. We had the chef's special lunch on the terrace. Service was impeccable and the food superb. The wine flowed and we were loathe to leave such a beautiful and calm place. We did not mention it was my birthday because he treated everyone with special attention. I had a salad including fruit - good combinations followed by steak and mushrooms. I was persuaded to have a dessert and I confirm that the mango mousse was to die for.....

A random stop for a "free" port tasting turned into a lovely afternoon of good food, beautiful surroundings and friendly hospitality. A quick stop on the hop-on hop-off tour resulted in a few hours well spent. Thanks to Paulo who made us feel so welcome and recommended some very tasty local cuisine. Great food at a great price, followed by an informative port tasting and a few purchases. Definitely a highlight of the trip! Recommend if you plan to visit Porto to allow for an afternoon at this place!

Visited here to find the place was closed and appears to have been closed for several weeks. Came back following day and still closed so I expect any new potential reviewers will also find it closed !
