Interior nicely done, burgers huge and freshly made, please note this is not a burger and chips restaurant! The menu choice is varied and well prepared in a traditional way. Seems a popular destination with the locals, plenty of parking at the back! I would visit again and have one of the traditional dishes.
Restaurante El Vasco lies close to the Centre of Vila-Real, a small town to the south of Catellon de la Plana and 40 minutes drive north of Valencia, about 5km inland from the coast and about half way up the east side of Spain ! You would never find it or know about it unless you were a local, it is in a very unassuming building on a side street, just out from the centre of town. A very modest sign above the entrance announces its presence, in a residential building that almost hides it from view. You cannot just walk in, but have to press a buzzer to be let in and you then walk past football memorabilia intermixed with more conventional Restaurant fixtures and fittings. The restaurant is quite small with a generous kitchen that you can see into as you go past. It feels very local and understated. However, the food was simply stunning and of an exceptionally high quality, with a wide range of simple yet creative local dishes brought to our table (this was a business lunch). They use the finest ingredient to creat a series of sublime courses that complimented each other beautifully. The Jamon de Jabugo was delicious with and ice cold beer to go with the tomato bread, the Benito Ihintza so delicate that it melted in your mouth, the 80 day hung beef, cooked by your own fair hand at your table on a sizzling and very hot earthenware platter was sublime.... the dishes kept coming until we ran out of time and had to surrender, and ask for a Cortado coffee to finish (the best coffee that I have had in a long time). It was such a surprise, unpretentious and the staff were extremely helpful and made the lunch feel far more personal and special. They all spoke English which helped. This is well worth hunting for, even if a little difficult to find with not much else around it.... but I would highly recommend it and suggest considering the trip even if you are staying in Valencia.... It would be great for a business lunch (this region is the centre of porcelain manufacturing in Spain), great for family and friends.... not very romantic given the wider setting, but worth a try just for the delicious food.
This is one of the finest restaurants in Vila-real both for meat and fish and the service is very attentive and efficient. The wine list is excellent and the overall experience outstanding. You just cannot go wrong at El Vasco!
The very good service, the food both in taste and in presentation of 10 and the spectacular desserts. we've been invited and I can't talk about price, but we can say we'd repeat and recommend 100.%
Exceptional Basque cuisine in villarreal, the chef asier Manzanos (official chef of the villarreal C.F delights us with an excellent tasting menu of exquisite traditional elaborations and a touch of fusion. In our case, we were able to choose the main one, since the arrival was so proposed (very successful, by the way. very rich the chickpeas and the coconut with noodles, as well as the seafood leaf. I can't think of the price, because it was company food. Large restaurant with private rooms and excellent treatment. highly recommended.
