There 's probably no grocery chain in the whole country (maybe the world that can top Wegmans for quality, variety, and especially prepared foods. It 's a destination in and of itself when I visit the Rochester area. Why they would want to get into the restaurant business confounds me because none of their renditions hover the years have IMHO ever lived up to the stellar Wegman 's name. The Pub was recommended to us as a great place for comfort food so we thought we would give it a try. We ordered a couple of shrimp appetizers and placed our dinner order. Most of the people in our party had burgers and I ordered the fish and chips. The beer selection was good but not anything special however they did let us sample some of the craft brews. The service was pretty slow that night and about the time we finishing our drinks and were starting to get restless, they arrived with our dinner order having forgotten our shrimp appetizers altogether. The burgers seemed a bit small for the price and were not exactly cooked to order (mostly overcooked. The much heralded Tuscan fries came in a tin cup to create the illusion of a generous quantity which it hardly was. As best we can tell, the Tuscan seasoning was basically salt and pepper. I have to give high marks to the fish part of the fish and chips. It was a healthy portion of mild white fish quickly deep fried, crunchy, and not at all greasy. Can 't imagine fish and chips not coming with malt vinegar but this one didn 't. I asked for some and was brought a very small ramekin with about 2 tablespoons of what was supposed to be malt vinegar although I had my doubts. . The fish came with a diminutive side of coleslaw that was good, all 2 tablespoons of it! If you long for comfort/diner/bar food in Rochester I think there are a lot better choices (or just hit the cafe inside Wegmans grocery store.. . No one ever said the restaurant business was easy but Wegmans really ought to give up this nonsense and be satisfied with setting the bar against which all chains are measured.
5 minutes to 10am and they wouldn't make me a sub even though all the cold cuts were there and sub rolls were made.
We stopped for a quick bite and were pleasantly surprised at this great restaurant in the Wegmans store. As we do not have Wegmans in the midwest, they are always a destination for our travels and this one did not disappoint. GREAT food and service. Definitely plan to return but possibly during Happy Hour for great half price deals!
Wegmans family has built a gem and we love the store, but it was not a pleasant experience for this Christmas. To much virus what if drama, which the stores use to raise goods so high for the working class. No one is giving the working class huge government food voucher. So, does that give you the right to charge $45.00 a pound for scallops, or the high Cheese prices, meat?....There is no shortage.... The huge greed and virus drama only hurts the WORKER! How many people do you think makes $45.00 a hour to buy the scallops? So, ...this is the first time our family has went without the splurge of treats from your store. Yet, the government fed eat like a King!... 'what a racket .! And your pocket is full.... And the Worker juggles and walks away from the treats! We greatly appreciate the store staying neutral on the face diaper !....No haphazard bin 's to dispose the germ masks in?.... Sun kills it, remember?.....We all need to breath, especially when working!... Sincerely.....A worker
