The proper words will probably be lacking to properly deceive Au Vieux Fort also known as astronomical genius.When you first walk in you are immediately faced with history. The restaurant is built on a foundation that was built in 1692, started as a fort in 1692 and destroyed during the early 1800s in the war it was rebuilt over the centuries. What remains and is currently standing is an absolutely amazing hidden jewel.From the appetizer to the French onion soup, to the main course, everything is done artfully, full of flavor and absolute culinary perfection. This is a true French classic restaurant, with an absolutely professional and delightful wait staff to an absolutely passionate owner, it will not on any level disappoint. You must have at least some rudimentary French as it is strictly French speaking, but you will somehow get by if you only speak English. I of course had help from fully bilingual friends, but the experience was none the less phenomenal.If Chef Ramsay dined here, he would return on every occasion he could.My only regret is that due to the phenomenal food I have eaten here, all other restaurants I will visit on my trip will now be sub par.Bon appetit.

We went to the Vieux Fort last Saturday night with our family. We had reservations for 7:30 and we were seated quickly. The restaurant was very nice and clean it's an old rustic style. The service was excellent, a good reasonable wine list and a lot of good choices on the menu. My brother in law and I ordered the large beef chop for , two, and it was excellent, my sister in law ordered the fish with almonds and she enjoyed it. My wife and daughter had the langoustine which they enjoyed very much .I saw all the plates leave the table cleaned, and it's not because the portions were small it was because everyone enjoyed everything our appetizers and dessert was also great. This is one of the best restaurants that we have eaten at in a long time and we will certainly go back!!! Robert Brown

Matter because the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend trying their signature dish, it was amazing! Overall, a great experience and I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town.
