Contribuisci feedbackAn Impromptu Lunch In Visby Nets A Big Yum! SITREP So we 're touring around Visby after enjoying a morning adventuring through the Gotland. After some truly random walking adventures we happened upon Torgkrogen which ended up being a delightful stop. [hidden link] THE SETUP The menu was pretty comprehensive, featuring dishes running the gamet from Seafood delights to yummy looking noodle entrees. I actually settled upon a delicious Cheese Ham Calzone. It 's looked a LOT bigger than I could handle, but it was due to being very puffy, and ended up being quite manageable! [hidden link] SPACE AND AMENITIES There was more than sufficient space for our large group of 16 plus, in part due to the fortuitous lines of dining room tables that let you merge one party with another as needs be. [hidden link] After an hour or so, we were back on the road, ready to trek back to our buses. THE LOWDOWN A great spot to have a quick lunch should you happen on by!
After a delightful tour around the island of Gotland, we found ourselves in downtown Visby with some time to kill before our ship departed. I don't believe you can truly experience the culture of a place without a meal, so we wandered around hoping to find a place that could sit our large group of ~12. Eventually we stumbled across this restaurant who was happy to accommodate us between two tables. Will note, one of these two tables was a community table, so we were sat with strangers. Doesn't bother me at all, just worth noting in case it's not your thing. Luckily the menu was in Swedish and English, and we were able to find something to order quickly. I will say, the one negative about this place seemed to be the service. Servers seemed hard to locate and not really interested in taking our orders. They could have totally up sold us on more alcohol, but they were mostly MIA. Because I'm greedy, I naturally ordered more food that needed The Shrimp Toast Appetizer, and a Seafood Pasta Entree (don't judge, this was my vacation week to eat all the carbs). Both were delicious and came out in a reasonable amount of time. All of the other dishes I sampled were quite good as well. I liked the stonework inside and the atmosphere of the place. Will say however that the line for the single stall bathrooms definitely got a bit hectic at times as the restaurant was mostly full.
Wonderful restraunt located on the Visby's old town square. We dined on the patio and enjoyed an excellent meal of Huset Plankstek. The beef was great and covered a bed of sauteed mushrooms that was a unexpected bonus. The potatoes cooked to perfection and the bacon wrapped asparagus was outstanding. The service was attentive and quick to get us our food and drink. Our server didn't stop back to ask us if we needed drink refills or dessert. While we appreciated not feeling rushed to finish our meal, refills would have been welcomed. Overall a great experience I'd recommend to others.
We went here for lunch and had fish. It was quite okay and served promptly. However, the place was frequented by a large number of families with loud kids so if you would like to sit down and enjoy a quiet meal don't go here.
Sat outside and enjoyed a jazz trio at a nearby restaurant while watching people at the square. The service was very good and quick. I had a side salad, similar to a Greek salad. Good but too many onions. I got the steak with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. It was delicious and quite a bit of food. Local Gotland beer on tap was also very good.
