A female senior employee, possibly the manager, treated us with ignorance, impatience and intolerance....Even with the word “Putain” at a point below her breath when I made an inquiry. We are English and have lived in France for 3 years. My French are fit, but I felt dismissed from her for my effort, and she just did and spoke back in English, which was not necessary. She didn't give me the chance to give my complete order before I did (and swear) and disappeared under her breath. On her return she advised me because she did not give her my full order first. We felt very comfortable for the rest of our stay and made us feel confused and annoyed, what we had done to get them to treat us in this way. Avoid them when you go there. Other employees much better.
Excellent steaks. Great service. Will be back. When it rained, there was an immediate answer, and we were all moved under cov he.
This is restaurant is situated right on the Dordogne, with a large terrace looking over a good sized beach area and the river itself. It is the perfect spot to spend a summers day. If you are on the beach Le Chalet has a handy...snack bar where you can get drinks, ice cream etc. The restaurant itself has surprisingly good food. It is surprising because the look and varied nature of the menu, as well as the mid range pricing, suggests it will be cafe casual dining. The food is really great though. The steak is very good (of course), but the burger, omelette and pasta are all very good. The most surprising thing was the pizza. There are only a couple on the menu, but they are not the low quality frozen things you would get off a kids menu in the UK. They are top notch! The restaurant also has a bungee bounce nearby in the grounds which the kids loved. We came here 4 or 5 times in two weeks.
Le Chalet is a delightful brasserie style restaurant on the banks of the Dordogne river with plenty of parking and a childrens play area alongside, the setting is beautiful. The menu is simple and varied and quite extensive ranging from wonderful salads to pizza's to...the usual Perigordian fare (duck confit, sausages, magret etc. . Service is excellent with plenty of staff always available and helpful. This restaurant seems to specialise in some of the most amazing and tasty ice-cream type desserts so make sure you leave plenty of room for dessert.
Enjoyed a really pleasant lunch here. Wine by the pichet great value Food realistically big portions of snacks
