Fratellos Hot Dogs - Volo

I was hesitant to write this review, as I have no intention of returning to this restaurant if I am in the area again. However, I feel obligated to warn others. Before pouring soda into your cup, I recommend tasting the water from their fountain drinks first. The water had a strong iron/bloody taste that made me feel nauseous. The soda just covers up that unpleasant flavor with syrup. I'm not sure if they use well water, but I prefer a more distilled/purified taste. The food is similar to a generic version of Portillo's, with the cheese sauce being identical. However, the rest tasted like a mix between Portillo's and fast-food beef. While it is cheaper, the lack of quality flavor is not worth the savings. The burger bun is dense, and despite being fresh, it gives the sandwich an almost stale taste. The beef meat is good, the hot giardiniera is tasty, and the bread is fresh. However, the au jus was lacking and had an off-putting flavor. The fries were good. We chose water to drink, as I couldn't imagine the soda tasting much better given the water quality. The service was quick, with shorter lines than most places. Overall, I usually have an open mind when trying new food places, but despite the rave reviews, I would rather drive an extra 20/30 minutes to get the quality and flavor of Portillo's. Perhaps my taste buds are biased, or those who praise this place are settling for less to save money and time.

This restaurant is excellent and a popular choice in the Volo area. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable compared to other places in Illinois and the surrounding region.

The Penne pasta, Turkey Club wrap, and Jeff Sausage combo were all disappointing and did not meet our expectations in terms of quality. The restaurant will need to improve in order to receive a five-star rating. A 3-star rating is not ideal.

Really good food! Got a beef. It's a beef! meaning that it's not a bun with a little beef like Buona across the street. Ordered mine with sweet peppers. Actually got peppers! Not one little green spot on my sandwich. Also tried the double cheese. Greatburger! You need to have Python jaws to take a bite. Prices are fair too. This is my go to place! Buona most translate to lessin Italian.

Wow what a Suprise find for us. There is something here for everyone young and old. It is so much more than cars. Movie memorabilia, Disney, Pip organs, Campers, Bicycles, motorcycles, Military, Dinosaurs, antiques, a great little restaurant and Iam sure I am missing something.. If you love old cars, make sure to leave your checkbook at home as many of these beauties arefor sale... My wife is still talking about the Baby Blue Convertible she wanted.
