I chose Agenzen for it's close proximity it was an 8 minute cab ride from SFO for her, and a two block walk from Millbrae BART for me. Excellent, top grade Japanese cuisine in a beautifully appointed room the belies its nondescript neighborhood location. The service was excellent as well gracious and attentive. I would highly recommended Agenzen for a business lunch or dinner if needed for convenience near the airport. And again, excellent, excellent food even a Japanese person would be impressed with!
We were handed our menus and told the kitchen was closing and to make sure we ordered everything right then and now. Food was mediocre with the exception of the chawanmushi. Service was beyond subpar . Was hoping to like it. Will not return.
Used to be Ichizen now with new management/owner. Average but better than expected.
Seafood-centered menu great for fish lovers, not so much land lovers or vegetarians. Disappointed that the online menu that featured more varied dishes was different than the one at the restaurant, but it was still quite enjoyable. Sushi was good and reasonably priced but not the very best in the area. Dedicated parking lot and nice decor with 'real ' utensils (not 'disposable ' everything) was appreciated. Staff very friendly and capable; seemed genuinely interested in making our experience pleasant, which is a nice change from the snooty peninsula air you get at many places these days, regardless of quality and price. Very convenient (walkable) to CALTrain BART.
The best thing about this restaurant was the service parking. The chicken karrage was tender, however not much taste. The tempura was crispy, however was expensive. The monk fish liver was tasty plentiful however, very expensive.
