Slippery Minnow And Grill At Lake Waco

Great illuminated place to eat relax right at Lake Waco. You can either drive there or dock your boat. The view was great, the food was good fresh from the grill. I took 1 star away bc they have a very small menu, few options to choose from, but overall it was highly recommended if you ever are on the lake for the day or near the area.

Great catfish, hot wings, and fries. The avocado bites were a little heavy on the breading and would have benefited from fresher oil. The time from ordering to getting the food on the table was a little longer than we had hoped, but it wasn't excessive. The food was piping hot and clearly straight out of the fryer, so I am willing to forgive the wait.

Many reviews say that their food came out fast, unfortunately we did not have that experience. My wife and I decided to try the minnow after hearing it re-opened after the previous restaurant (slippery minnow) closed down hoping for a better experience. Overall the experience was slightly better. The wait for food was over an hour long. I can only assume it was an off night for the staff. We had ordered some wings and 2 salads. The food was improved drastically over the previous restaurant, unfortunately the service was slow. The positives about the minnow is great wings and a beautiful atmosphere and view. The negative was the long wait. I will say that I plan on visiting the Minnow again with the long wait in mind and Hope's that I can update my review with giving it more stars given this is the only restaurant in Waco that allows us to enjoy a lake front view.

I’ve been going to Slippery Minnow for 10 yrs. My husband and I have had a houseboat here and we’ve always enjoyed going to the Minnow. Please know, I’m not complaining of the food....that being said, tonight my husband and I decided to get some wings and shrimp, unfortunately, we had to deal with kiddos running all over the place.....that wasn’t a problem, I have young grandchildren and I love their spirit. The problem was, these kiddos were running on top of the tables where people eat. I didn’t say anything, I was hoping the parents would deal with it. That didn’t happen. I finally went to one of the co owners and was very polite and asked if they could keep their kids from being on top of tables. I was hoping she would understand, unfortunately, she was not happy with me. My husband and I watched and heard her say things about me. Her reasoning behind the kids running on the tables were they were celebrating a wedding party....really

Usually a great place to go. Today it was pretty bad. They really need to clean up all the cobwebs outside around the place. Clean the fans outside. Scrub the outside trashcan. They were particularly nasty. I can see why the place has constant changes in owners/managers. Take care of it a bit better and maybe business will be better. Not sure if I'll return this year.
