Went there for the first time today and loved the food. When we came in we were greeted by the owner and given a tour of the buffet. He was nice enough to point out his personal favorites as he went. We tried five or more of the dishes and got a samosa as well and wow was it good! The price is very reasonable, too, at $7.40 per pound. And, as I said before, the owner is super friendly and helpful. We are definitely coming back next weekend.
On a recent visit to Hawaii and while we were shopping in Wahiawa, we were on the lookup for a vegan restaurant/buffet for lunch and Maharaja's Foods came on our radar. This review is primarily based on a dine-in experience and not takeout. Location Aesthetics located in Wahiawa on California Avenue with very clear and highly visible signage. I don't think they could be missed. Parking (from my observations) is directly in front of the restaurant but is shared with other surrounding businesses to the left and right of the restaurant so I'm not sure if parking could be a potential problem. Luckily we found a spot to park directly in front of the restaurant and this was around lunchtime. Service as we entered, we were immediately greeted by staff (only 2) and were treated exceptionally well throughout the entire time were there. It felt as if they were making it their business to personally get to know us as customers. They asked if we had ever been to the restaurant and wanted us to immediately know it was vegetarian/vegan. They asked if we wanted to sample anything. They told us the names of each dish and described in detail what it was. While we were eating, staff came to our table to check on us periodically and ask if the meal was to our satisfaction, and they even provided complimentary naan bread whilst we were eating. Food unfortunately the restaurant loses a star 1) for the lack of variety in dishes. I believe there were about 6 pans with food plus the salad pan. Two of those six pans of food were two different varieties of rice and the other pans consisted of vegan dishes whose names elude me at the moment. However, the food was very tasty, fresh, delicious, well seasoned and not too spicy, and everything was served hot. One would never think or believe they were eating vegan dishes as it was that good! The dishes weren't too salty as one would believe a lot of vegan dishes to be and not oily at all. The restaurant also lost another star 1) as in my opinion, I felt it's not a true lunch buffet but rather one has to pay for the food by the pound 7.40/lb With this in mind, we couldn't go back to the buffet to try out other options though limited they were. If we're back in Wahiawa, we would definitely be back and do recommend! Updated from previous review on 2019-11-27
We are so happy we had the opportunity to find this place on our way back from getting a tree today. Almost everything was vegan and we tasted all of those options. We will definitely be back!! So hard to find great Indian vegan options on Oahu... until now!! The chef was so friendly as well. He explained what everything was.
Amazing little hole in the wall in Wahiawa with fresh vegetarian and vegan buffet. Worth the drive from town alone. Really good samosas and fresh baked cookies too. The guys behind the counter are super friendly.
