I live down the road and as a local I can tell you that this is a "MUST VISIT" experience. The beer is cold and refreshing. The food is good pub fair. The new owners are amicable and welcoming.
Staff we friendly and looked after us, meal was good tonight, having heard good reports from campers close by we decided to try. it came out quick and was very nice. i had hawaiian schnizels and hjubby had big burger and chips. Reasonable priced for what we received. Will call here again if out this way
The outstanding thing about staying at this historic bush pub was the excellent bed. It's not often that you get a perfect sleep on he first night but this one, coupled with the cheerful atmosphere in the bar and the plain but perfectly cooked meal served in the dining room, made this not only a special but a memorable stay.Named, for some reason, after a French General, this old colonial hotel is picturesque by any standards -- sandstone walls, low-slung roof, shady verandahs, a picture-perfect colonial pub. The building has been added to over the years -- the dining room is faintly Art Deco, and the accommodation wing of six modern rooms with contemporary features completes the charming eclecticism. The generously proportioned shared bathrooms are spotless and commodious and the showers a dream compared to lots of cramped city hotel bathrooms. There is a self-serve breakfast bar where you can make your own continental breakfast and be on your way after a refreshing and entertaining stop at a uniquely antique country pub. Before you leave Wallabadah, visit the historical garden up the road as you leave going north, another unique feature of this charming old village which is a perfect overnight stop on the New England Highway.
We spent the weekend in Wallabadah, a small town you may not be familiar with. During our visit, we decided to stop by the local pub for a beer and a meal. Despite the challenges of COVID lockdowns, the pub is still striving to stay afloat. The menu offered a delicious chicken carving, salad, and chips, with gravy available upon request. While the menu was more limited than usual due to current circumstances, the quality of the meal was exceptional. The chicken carving was fresh and not pre-packaged. We encourage you to support this small local establishment by dining in or getting a drink. The locals are friendly and welcoming.
