Although the restaurant looks a bit dated, it provided us with a peaceful dinner accompanied by friendly service. The decor may not have changed in the past 20 years, but we had no trouble finding parking and our waiter, Simon, was very polite and helpful. The menu offers a variety of regular dishes with a few unique and enticing options mixed in. My wife ordered the Satay Chicken (more like a Curry satay) and loved it. She also raved about the Prawn bread, claiming it was the best she had ever tasted. I opted for the Beef with Spicy Chinese sauce, similar to the manager's special, and enjoyed it with some fluffy boiled rice. If you're looking for a quiet, relaxed dining experience without the crowds, this could be the perfect spot for you.
House of Peking, formerly located at the Jesmond Hotel, has rebranded to Kingsland as of March 25, 2017. It is considered one of the top Chinese restaurants in Newcastle, offering authentic dishes, especially for those who enjoy spicy cuisine. In addition, they serve great yum cha options.
After living in wallsend for 10 years, I finally found Kingsland, It was surprisingly great food, I had takeaway, for my family of 7, it was one of the best chinese meals ever, certainly top 3....Honey Chicken was perfect, combo omelette perfect, and all the dishes of exceptional quality... while waiting I found the decor fitting for the style of restaurant, and was clean and well presented.....some may call it dated, i call it perfect... id recommend it, 5 large take away dishes, 2 lrg fried rice, was $90 included big bag of prawn chips!
The decoration may seem to be antiquated however it's key to the restaurants throwback to the 80s Chinese dining experience. The food is great and the service is friendly.
