THANK YOU COCKEYE BBQ. All four of us had never been here. I picked it for my birthday based on seeing it on WFMJ and buying the ice cream at Wedgewood in Austintown. We told the very nice young lady at the register that we had never been here before, and she could not have been nicer or more patient. Food absolutely exceeded all of our expectations. And then we went outside and found the ice cream stand, and we were all just blown away. Thanks for a wonderful birthday, we came from Hermitage and will certainly be back soon. Did I say the food is spectacular? Visited several times now. We can't get enough. Food is consistently way off the chain excellent
After all of the great stuff I’ve heard my wife and I finally tried Cockeye. We had 3 meats and 3 sides. The ribs were very tender but lacked flavor. The pulled pork was a little better but lacked smoke flavor I expected. The best protein was the brisket. It was moist and very tender. Again lacked the smoke flavor you expect at a true BBQ restaurant. The sides were cheesy potatoes which lacked the cheese with a name like that. The cheesy grits were just what it said. They were really good. The star of the meal was the baked beans. At 40+ dollars this is probably one and done for us but by all means give them a try!
Ok, I am not a big bbq person. However, I will say this was amazing food here. I will give credit where its due. I got mac and cheese, greens, baked beans. For meat I did the brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken it had great flavor. They had quit few sauces to choose from. The staff and owner are friendly. It's well kept. Clean environment. Decent size parking area. Ohhh and they have a creamery right next door that is absolutely amazing ice cream. I got butter pecan and little man got cotton candy flavor it was great.
Great spot, we had pulled pork, Ribs, brisket, and kids nuggets. Went next door for ice cream which was also 5 star!
