The new manager of this restaurant seems to have the same disregard for the local community as the previous one. Despite being a great pub, the noise and disturbances from late-night revelers on Bridge Street are making it difficult for nearby residents to sleep. Many are longing for the peace and quiet of lockdown when they could keep their windows open and children could rest undisturbed. While it's important for the pub to maintain its lively atmosphere, it's also crucial to consider the impact on those living in the area. Perhaps closing earlier or lowering the volume of the music late at night could be a simple solution to show respect for the neighborhood. It's worth taking into account for the future.
After patiently waiting for the lockdown to lift, we decided to head to the pub closest to our home to enjoy a beer in the sunny beer garden. It was 4:30 pm on Saturday 29/5 and there were only 5 people in the pub. A young woman approached us from behind the bar to welcome us. When I inquired about going to the beer garden, she requested that we use a track and trace app to make a booking. I explained that I did not have the app as my phone is not a smartphone. The woman insisted that I download the app, stating that without it, we could not have a beer. Frustrated, I suggested just writing down our contact details for tracing purposes, but she refused. Feeling increasingly irritated, I informed her that we would go elsewhere. Despite being nearly 60 years old and wanting to comply with the regulations, we were met with resistance. We walked a short distance and had no trouble getting our beers at the Red Lion, where we ended up spending a significant amount of money. I wonder how the Crown and Cushion plans to accommodate individuals with outdated technology or, heaven forbid, no mobile phone at all. These customers do exist, and can the Crown and Cushion afford to lose business by turning them away?
What an utter shambles!! Rules not followed, for example “beer garden shut at 8pm” lie this was still open at 10:30pm. Management’s ability to enforce rules is a joke!
The Crown has always been a fab little pub but since Sally took over its even better. The pub is always clean and reasonably priced. There’s always events on of a weekend and through the week too so it’s a really good atmosphere. The team work so hard and make everyone feel so welcome which makes it hard not to go back. Thanks Sally, you’re doing a great job!!
