I ordered the 'cashew nut stir fry', but the mild chili jam turned out to actually be sweet chili. The dish was full of egg and the rice was clumped together, which my children refused to eat because they don't like eggs. I made it clear twice that I did not want eggs in the dish. I also ordered stir-fried vegetables with tofu and roti bread, which was just okay. The restaurant seemed friendly, but I probably won't be returning because they need to improve communication between the staff taking orders and the kitchen.
If you are a fan of Thai cuisine, you will definitely love brown grain. Many dishes are vegan or can be made vegan by informing the staff. The portions are generous, so make sure you come hungry (and don't forget to try the curry puffs as an appetizer!). It is also my favorite spot along with Liebig (they have the same owners). You can bring your own drinks, but keep in mind that they can get quite busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance.
We had takeaway and it was delicious. So fresh and flavoursome, and not expensive. We had the spring rolls, curry puffs, noodles with cashews, green chicken curry, roti and rice. Also very quick. Yum!
