The floor was somehow sticky, and the food tray turned from white to grey due to repeatedly writing and erasing (they write customer's names and numbers on the tray). I appreciate the concept, but the devil is in the detail.
Soggy veggies This place was great when it first opened, but now if you get a hot bowl the veggies are usually overcooked and not at all strained, leaving them a soggy mess without texture, like overcooked spinach. Super sad, because idea of the place is great. Original review: Best veggie burger! What a great restaurant. Not anti- meat, but pro-veggie. Great menu, good prices, great deco and music.
Great for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. Tasty and inventive take on staples of fast casual food. More vegan options or vegan substitutions for non-vegan items would be great. Highly recommended!
I was super excited about trying this vegetarian place on my trip to DC and I was not disappointed! My friend and I got the Little Curry Warm Rice Bowl and it was loaded with veggies and super delicious! I love this concept of quick casual yummy vegetarian food and I hope that Jose Andres expands it to San Francisco!
Who knew vegetables could be so exciting? Beefsteak offers an amazing assortment of fresh, flavorful, and healthy food in a fun, rustic environment. The menu is fairly extensive, with a diverse mix of vegetables, sauces, and toppings (yes, they even have chicken sausage for the obligate carnivores out there), and the staff is friendly and helpful. The most interesting part of the meal by far is the immersion hot water machine (think french fry fryer, but greener) when I saw my veggies descending into a boiling vat of water I expected the worst, but they came out well seasoned and still surprisingly firm. Don't forget to grab a homemade fruit and veggie juice mix on the way out!
