Contribuisci feedbackSouthern cooking and soul food in DC! A few years ago, I mentioned to a coworker that I was craving southern-style and soul food, and she brought me to this restaurant—WOW! It feels just like home cooking from Mom. From the collard greens to the fried chicken and mac and cheese, everything is delicious! I kept going back for more. I’ve never had their desserts (which I've heard are amazing) because I never have room after the meal. I highly recommend this place, and the hospitality is fantastic too!
Great neighborhood restaurant on a quiet street. Large outdoor area where you can sip, eat, and enjoy your friends. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is cozy like your living room. The fried fish and chicken is about the best in the city. Both crispy and hot.Not greasy. The cabbage was pretty good too. Good soul food!
We luved the ambience! The food was GREAT! The portions are generous, the Rum Punch was new and really good. We were having such a good time we got a little loud but the staff and other patrons joined us. Will definitely go back!Vegetarian options: They do offer those.
I wasn't very impressed with the food. The waitstaff was generally friendly, particularly Patty. However, the calamari was overcooked and lacked flavor, making it dry. The blackened catfish also had no seasoning. On a positive note, the cornbread was delicious.
Enjoyed our dinner here on the outside porch. It 's very tight seating and everyone seemed to want to sit outside on this particular evening. The porch furniture needs a little attention my chair rocked because the legs were lopsided). There were cobwebs around the ceiling and railings which should definitely be cleaned when outside seating is offered and so popular.Good food choices at reasonable prices. The server was very kind, and helpful in making suggestions. The fried pickles, a must have. Yummmm. The fried chicken was worth the 20-30 minute which they inform you about on the menu) wait. The fried fresh was delicious along with the sides steamed cabbage, potato salad, cornbread, collard greens). The Mac-n- cheese was just ok, it wasn 't the 'real ' baked kind which was disappointing.I would visit again.Parking: It took us a few times around the neighborhood before we found parking.
