Mikko Nordic Fine Food - Washington

I had a wonderful, tranquil lunch at this restaurant! The mushroom soup was absolutely fantastic! Our server was prompt and attentive, and the food was served quickly and tasted delicious. I would definitely return here for another meal whenever I'm in the area.

Cozy place with awesome cocktails! They do a pretty good happy hour daily 4-7pm. There food is very interesting… worth giving it a try! I got the North Star w/o simple syrup

Nordic drinks and food place. Not bad, not extremely good. Chocken schnitzel is good. Long drink is gin based, it is OK as well. Prices are reasonable..

The service was great. The food was good but nothing super standout. I’m not sure we’d return because we didn’t love the cuisine. Still, we enjoyed our experience and it was fun to try new things. Everything could have been seasoned a bit more. The desert was interesting like a shortbread cookie with jam. My girlfriend loved it!

As a fan of Nordic cuisine, I was eager to try Mikko during my recent visit to Washington. This lively restaurant, conveniently located just off Dupont Circle, offers outdoor seating that is vibrant and enjoyable on a summer evening. We started with the pickled herring small plate, which was outstanding. However, I found the entrées to be somewhat underwhelming. The lamb burger, chicken schnitzel, and salmon were all decent but didn’t really capture the essence of Nordic flavors. I was hoping for main dishes that were unique and distinctive to Scandinavian cuisine. Overall, the food was good, though it felt a bit mainstream. On the brighter side, the cocktails were fantastic.
