The food was excellent overall. I was not particularly impressed with the Asian pear salad and the cocktails, but the other dishes definitely made up for it. However, I'm not entirely sure if the prices were justified.

FOOD was fun! Every plate had its own delicious and authentic taste. The most I liked among the plates was kampachi raw scallop, Halibut w clam sauce, duck breast and all the desserts. Being European, I was attracted to this restaurant as it was featured in the Michelin guide (1 star and was not disappointed! Although the general look and feel of the place could, at first sight, pass for a hipster cum university place, the food was truly remarkable and the service was to match. Not on the cheap side (but perhaps my choosing a $100 chardonnay bottle didn't help , but certainly an experience I'll remember (in particular the starters with kimchi oil and just the right chilly heat! . The food was incredible, but the overall dining experience fell short, especially for a Michelin-rated restaurant. The sommelier's persistent presence and pressure to quickly choose our dinner courses, wines, cocktails, and tequila were overwhelming, making it feel more like a sales pitch than a tailored suggestion. Despite the culinary excellence, the rushed atmosphere and intrusive service overshadowed what should have been a delightful birthday celebration with my closest friends. Washington, DC has many fantastic restaurants that offer attentive and thoughtful service, so I would recommend saving your money and choosing a different venue.
