We ended up staying longer as Ben guided us through their impressive whisky selection. I tried a Black Manhattan before attending a show at the KC, and we enjoyed chatting with him while sipping our drinks. I highly recommend this stylish bar for anyone looking for a great whisky, whether it's a classic or one of their unique creations, including some ultra-expensive options.
We waited 15 minutes for a waiter, despite there being two bartenders on duty. In the end, we had to order our drinks at the bar ourselves. The Sri ended up being overly sweet. Throughout the evening, we noticed the bartenders chatting among themselves and seemingly ignoring us and other customers. While the ambiance of the bar is lovely, the service leaves much to be desired for a lobby bar.
My friends and I visited this past Sunday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. We rented an igloo, which cost $150, with a minimum spend of $50 per person on food and drinks. The menu was quite limited, offering only a small selection of tapas and shared plates, along with a few cocktail options. Fortunately, you could also order basic cocktails (like vodka soda) that weren't listed on the menu. However, everything felt extremely overpriced; cocktails and wine started at $25 per glass, and the tapas, which were quite small, began at $27 per dish. Despite the chilly weather outside, the igloos were well-heated, thanks to two portable heaters in ours. The igloos are set up on the patio next to the Whiskey Bar and near the hotel valet entrance, which was a bit of a letdown as the view was just a wall of green bushes behind us. I had visited two years ago for their igloo experience, and back then, they were located downstairs with a lovely view of the Potomac River. This time, the decor inside the igloo was rather mediocre, but as the sun set, it did provide an opportunity for some beautiful photos inside the igloo.
If I could give a ZERO I would. Came here before a show at The Kennedy Center. The hostess was aloof and cold and sat us. We sat at our table and waited 15 minutes and then left. Not one waiter or waitress even looked at us. The hostess watched us continue to get ignored and did nothing. Saw one waiter who went over to another table, whom had arrived well after us. The waiter was wearing a baseball cap by a skateboard company, you couldn 't even tell that he worked there by the completely unprofessional way he was dressed. We got up and left, the hostess watched us leave and said nothing. My husband complained to the front desk. The front desk lady said oh sorry and did nothing more. WORST SERVICE IN DC, WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. This might as well have been a motel 6 the way the staff acted (and was dressed). HORRIBLE. We left and went over to The Kennedy Center and sat at the Terrace Bar and had the most impeccable service and enjoyable cocktails and snacks. Watergate needs to go over there and learn how to provide immaculate, high class service.
Overpriced and with close to 30 people still sitting around and drinking, they decided to close early because the manager had left for the evening. Makes no sense, they could have probably sold a good amount of drinks, specially because a wedding had just ended and a large group came up to hang out.
