Nile Market - Washington DC

Since reopening under new management, Nile Restaurant has introduced some changes, including a new lunch buffet priced at $9. Given my limited time for a meal, I opted for the buffet. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was inconsistent. Both the brown and yellow lentils lacked flavor and were a bit watery, although they were fresh and perfectly cooked. The collard greens were quite good, although served a bit cold. The cauliflower was well-seasoned, and cooked just enough to retain its firmness. The server was very friendly and made me feel welcome; she was also quick to assist me as I rushed through my meal. From what I observed, the meat dishes seemed popular among the locals, so I would likely have enjoyed those if I had tried them!

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The meals were outstanding, with the shiro possibly being the best I've ever tasted. The coffee was excellent as well. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be returning soon!

Compared to other Ethiopian restaurants, the portion sizes here were somewhat smaller. Normally, a vegetarian sampler or platter is sufficient for my group and me, but we ended up needing to order two. However, when we ordered a second time, we were served a larger portion. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was casual and relaxed.

Very good service and love the pictures of Ethiopian and proud Ethiopia (e.g. the king of Ethiopia and the bassassie) on the walls. great experience for a Sunday evening tète-à-tète. we had the place for us around 17 clock and really enjoyed us.
