Nina May - Washington DC

Absolutely loved Nina May! The service was fantastic and friendly, and the food was delicious. The quality and flavours were outstanding. Plus their wine recommendations were great too! We tried their homemade cavatelli, Pensilvania chicken, and pastrami dishes.

We took a small group of community leaders on an advocacy trip to Washington, DC, and we treated them to dinner at Nina May. It was such a delightful experience! The upstairs area we used was ideal for our gathering, especially when the retractable roof opened up to reveal the evening sky. The food was absolutely fantastic—I'm mimicking a chef's gesture of "Magnifique!" as I say this! The service was exceptional as well: the team was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. I wholeheartedly recommend Nina May to anyone looking for a distinctive dining experience in DC.

1. **Food**: To satisfy our appetites, we ordered the heirloom tomato salad with smoked whipped feta, Parker House rolls, brisket, corn cavatelli with crab, and chocolate mousse. Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious, particularly the rolls, which were the best Parker House rolls I've ever tasted, complemented perfectly by the accompanying butter. The only disappointment was the corn dumplings served with the smoked beef pastrami, as they were a bit dry. 2. **Drinks**: They have an impressive drink menu featuring wines from around the globe, including selections from Serbia and Moldova. We particularly enjoyed their Moldovan Sauvignon Blanc, which was refreshing, along with a delightful seasonal watermelon margarita. 3. **Service**: The service was efficient and attentive from beginning to end. Just a note, gratuity is not included, so be sure to tip generously. 4. **Space**: The restaurant is housed in a charming old row house with two dining levels and bars on each floor. Unisex bathrooms are conveniently located on both levels. The dishware is beautiful, and the wall decorations align with the farmhouse theme, aside from the large photographs of landmarks in D.C. 5. **Location**: Situated on the edge of Logan Circle, the restaurant is centrally located near various other cafes and eateries. However, street parking can be a challenge; it took us about 20 minutes to find a spot. If you’re looking for a cozy spot for a date night, I highly recommend booking a table here. It exudes local charm and a quaint atmosphere.

Nina May always impresses, but I want to give special recognition for how they managed my engagement party. The staff made the planning and customization process a breeze. When the day arrived, the service, food, and atmosphere exceeded our expectations. They truly made the day unforgettable, and the champagne toast at the beginning was a delightful surprise! We couldn’t be more grateful. We highly recommend Nina May for any occasion, whether it’s a significant event or just a wonderful dinner. Kudos to them!

I organized a birthday celebration at Nina May restaurant in June 2023 (as a private event on the pergola patio). The event was lovely, and the food and cocktails were delicious. The service and attention were equally excellent. The Nina May team, including the events coordinator, were extremely helpful, responsive, and accommodating for a number of requests both beforehand and on the day of the event. We had a wonderful celebration and are looking forward to going back.
