By no stretch of the imagination could they be called halibut cheeks. The chicken was pre-grilled-then-frozen chicken that had been over cooked. And finally the cesar salad... most definately came from a bag. After sending the pasta back because of the aweful chicken.. the waitress came back out to argue with me over the quality of the chicken. Aweful food and poor service will guarantee we never return.
The interior has undergone redecorating and it 's really pretty nice tables, tall chairs, swanky colors and a nice view of the lake. Even the bathroom was posh . I got crappy service and food. Everyone around me seemed fine...I think I just had the misfortune of bad cosmic vibes that day. I ordered the BLT and it was tiny. TINY. Two slices of bacon! Good bread but very thin, narrow slices of what was supposed to be foccacia. The pasta salad that came with it (they were out of potato salad) was slimy looking with a tomato cream sauce (cold). I asked for the chips instead. What I saw around me were people ordering the chicken salad sandwiches which were piled high and I especially noticed about 6 guys from the local tire shop ordering nachos. They ALL ordered nachos. The plates were enormous and I think the price was about 12 whereas my dinky, shrinky BLT was about 10. The waitress constantly ignored me (I was solo) and kept taking other orders...Other people got good service and good food. Not me. I kept smiling and trying to act cheerful, but left really disgruntled. On that day I was invisible. Hmmmm...I checked out the dinner menu and can see it 's on par with Evangelo 's for pasta and chicken and steak. So are the prices...they are high. So my thought is this would I trust a place that can 't provide good service and can 't be consistent in their food delivery to handle a meal where I might pay 30 for an entree? Just for the view? Not me. Sorry.
Great view, good pizza, and beer. It is small but you get great service. We shared the house pizza. Katamala olives, feta and artichokes. yumm! It's right off the road so great if you are out for a drive
A friend and I ate at the Wild Olive yesterday. I believe they are only open for lunch. Interior is okay, nothing spectacular. Kind of dark, despite the large windows on both the front of the building and the back which overlooks a large deck w/what I imagine to be summer-time outdoor eating and a view of Wasilla lake. There is a large tv and sports bar type square tables with tall (extremely heavy) chairs. As you enter you are greeted by a white board with the specials of the day. There was so much information jam-packed on there I didn't really see what the special was, or how much. We seated our selves. When the waitress came over to greet us she did go over the soup of the day (sausage gumbo), took our drink order (they have alcohol, although we weren't there for that). The menu had pizzas, appetizers (wings etc) and wraps/sandwiches. I had a BLT. Not a terribly exciting choice, but it was good. The ciabatta bread was a little over toasted. Sandwiches come with a choice of sides: potato salad, pasta salad or maccaroni salad, or chips. I went with the potato salad. It was tasty, red potatoes and creamy mayonnaisy-sauce. Again, nothing to write home about, but it was good. My lunch was about $9. My friend got a wrap of some sort that had turkey, lettuce, cream cheese, and black olives and as a side got the pasta salad. She said it was very tasty. It was nice to try, but probably wouldn't be my first choice for lunch in Wasilla. Not great, not bad, just didn't thrill me.
I went here for lunch with my grandma and we both had a great time. The pizza was great and so was the beer. The staff is wonderful. This place is truly Wasilla's best kept secret!
