The flavors were surprisingly authentic and made with fresh ingredients, although there was an abundance of oils. I came specifically for the tofu, but it seems they don't serve it; I suspect they rarely do. If I stay in the area longer, I would definitely be willing to give this place another try.
Considering the abundance of Italian restaurants in the area with limited vegetarian options (such as pasta in tomato sauce, fried vegetables, or chips), it was refreshing to discover a different cuisine. The Chinese food we ordered had its ups and downs. The local spinach with black bean sauce and the fried rice were quite enjoyable, though the sweet and sour dipping sauce was less impressive. Tofu was mentioned on the menu, but unfortunately, it was unavailable during our visit. Despite this, we had a pleasant dining experience and would recommend it. A tip: clearly communicate to the waitstaff any dietary restrictions you have (such as avoiding meat, fish, fish sauce, milk, and eggs). Our fried rice was prepared without egg. We enjoyed the black bean tofu, stir-fried spinach, and salt and pepper vegetables. The owner mentioned that they sometimes struggle to maintain a consistent supply of tofu, which isn't surprising given how challenging it can be to source even in Nairobi. The dishes are not only delicious but also cater well to various nutritional needs. We also recommend asking about special requests, as we ordered some amazing Chinese dishes from the menu.
We really enjoyed the black bean tofu, stir-fried spinach, and the salt and pepper vegetables. The owner mentioned they sometimes struggle to maintain a consistent supply of tofu, which isn’t surprising since it’s not always easy to find, even in Nairobi. The dishes are very appealing in terms of nutritional value, and we also recommend asking for their specials— we ordered some delicious Chinese dishes from the menu.
The food is good—not outstanding, but it's a pleasant change from the typical dining options around here. The aromas were surprisingly authentic, and the ingredients were fresh, with a lot of oils used in the dishes. I specifically went for the tofu, but they didn't have any available. I get the impression that they rarely offer it. If I stick around longer, I might give them another chance.
