Josie's Jamerican Kitchen - Waterbury

Miss Josie's food is AMAZING! My friends and I had such an excellent experience eating here we knew we wanted to leave a review before we even finished our apps. To start we had the stuffed chicken curry Johnny cakes, island fries, and the jerk wings. The wings were huge and so delicious! The plantains that came with everything were melt in your mouth good. Miss Josie dipping sauces were all homemade and SO tasty. We also tried the jerk chicken and pork. Some of the most tender meat i have ever eaten. We were shoveling food in faster than you could imagine. Luckily, we still had room for pound cake because it was so fluffy and like heaven with Miss Josies chef special sauce. Couldn't say better things about this family owned restaurant. Our waitress was so friendly and made us really feel at home. Miss Josie came out of the kitchen to meet us and couldn't be sweeter! Sold out of the soup of the day and she whipped up a batch of veggie soup on the fly. If I could give them ten stars, I would. Seriously, you will not regret stopping by for dinner. (In fact, tomorrow I'll be by to pick up some banana bread)

Wife and I just ate there tonight using Groupon coupon. Had jerk red snapper, jerk chicken, and fish fritters. Food was EXCELLENT and service from Dave was superb. Great family run restaurant. Will definitely return for more wonderful Jamaican delights. Highly recommended.

Authentic Jamaican food at a very affordable price. We tried several dishes and all were outstanding. The jerk pork was tender and spicy. The Johnny Cakes were crispy on the outside and tender inside- delicious. Sweet and spicy chicken was incredible. All served with a red beans and rice and a type of slaw that complimented the meal tremendously Friendly family location with live bands on saturday The lively calypso/ reggae really sets the mood. We loved it and will be back often.

Absolutely amazing! My friend and I had made reservations before our visit. We expected the typical Caribbean restaurant experience—those who have been there know what I mean—but we were pleasantly surprised by the service here. It's truly a FAMILY-owned establishment. We came in with a Groupon since we were in the area, and from the moment we sat down, we were treated to a delightful meal. The portions were generous, the drinks were STRONG, and the overall atmosphere was filled with good vibes. The next time I'm in the area, this place will be my top choice, without a doubt! Wow! The staff's kindness is truly exceptional, and the complimentary chips served at every table are absolutely delicious. The Ruck Chicken and Curry Goat were both outstanding in freshness, flavor, and authentic spices. The portion sizes are generous, and you can really feel the passion infused in the food, especially with Mom Josie herself in the kitchen creating her magic. Yes, there is a Josie, and she personally comes out to mingle with guests. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return!
