Once one of the best pubs in the inner of sydney, with a flourishing customer and a packed beer garden, the glenroy hotel is a train wreck with its current peculiarities and I doubt that it is viable. the beer is poor, always flat, little to no head, and the staff does not get it and sad, some very bad English skills that I do not have to show. the Chinese makeover is dark and dingy complete with bland chinese food. as a native we really wanted this pub to work, but unfortunately nothing looks like changing. no wonder it's always empty time to get the wreckball.
This is one of the best secret secrets of sydney for Chinese food and I only know about it because I work in the opposite. I am super picky with my eating in the rule and this place is up there with the best chinese in sydney (can be the best). my friend from the province sichuan in china says his best Chinese she had in sydney. the only reason why I didn't give him 5 is because it is in a kind of older looking pub (not in a cool wise) but eating is exceptional. totally recommended.
I have never in my life returned vegetables to a kitchen. After waiting an hour for our food we had to chisel our way through the vegetables.....to much cornflour guys. And service was shocking, you guys need to wake up and realise if hungry people have to wait a long time for **** food a sorry might be in order, not so at the Glenroy hotel. My recommendation is stay clear of this joint, go to the Iron Duke, go to Maccers, hell, go to the nearby IGA!!
Just BRILLIANT beer is cheap the food Awsome staff are very friendly try the salt and pepper Wings we are regulars and we have never been dissapointed once
