Indian Sizzler - Watford

We decided to visit this restaurant after it popped up on my Instagram a video showcasing the all you can eat buffet with a complementary side of mixed grilled meats. Points for social media advertising! When we arrived we immediately noticed the vibrant vibe with loud music and neon nights. My partner actually commented that he felt we were in 'Creams ' (late night dessert parlour). We didn 't mind this atmosphere but I don 't think I would feel comfortable brining the parents with. The music was perhaps a bit much. Staff were nice and friendly. We were sat down and the lady manager explained how the buffet works and took our drinks order. We were told the complementary mixed grill was already on the way. It was a nice gesture, and the meat was really tasty (2x lamb, 2x chicken, 2x chicken wing), however, it felt excessive and we unfortunately ended up wasting some of it. It was simply too much food, considering it was our first time at the buffet and we also wanted to try all of the dishes available. Also, not sure how I would feel to be welcomed by a plate of meat if I was a vegetarian? The buffet section was quite small and got crowded pretty quickly, but plenty there. A starter section was really nice with lots of options. Also really enjoyed a big vegetarian section of the buffet. The curries were really tasty and varied in taste (I say this because we have been to restaurants where the base curry sauce is clearly the same and re used for multiple menu items). Some of it was quite spicy but not unbearable. I particularly enjoyed the Mrigal fish curry, which was really delicious but be careful of the bones. It was nice to see a dessert section too, with good quality ice cream and choice of chocolate brownies or gulab jamun. Nice sweet way to end the meal. Overall, I did not know what to expect considering I found this restaurant through Instagram, but it was really nice. I will be coming back for sure.

So I’m writing this with a little bit of disappointment, as I’ve just had a very different visit tonight to one that I had just 3 weeks ago… In Feb I visited with family on a Monday night, and had an amazing evening at the buffet. I was so impressed by the choice, the value and the service. There were so many dishes, and I loved the dessert station (Jelibis are my favourite! . The staff, particularly the female manager, were smiley and kind and attentive. When she brought the bill, and I checked to see if service was included, she said ‘no, because it’s self service buffet’ (but we were so happy we tipped freely anyway . I raved about it to friends, and arranged to visit for us tonight… However, it was a different experience tonight another Monday. The food was still nice, but with a little less selection this time. Less salads, and the poppadoms were not at the buffet station with the raita and chutney instead, a staff member said they were delivered to the table. I figured that perhaps it saved them being broken at the buffet or something? The dessert station was missing Jelibis, and there was less ice cream selection. I figured maybe a few costs had to be cut, but was happy with the food all the same. The service wasn’t as attentive as previous, but I put this down to there being a busy party in the corner. When the bill came however, I noticed that a £5 charge had been added to the bill for the poppadoms, which I questioned as these had been included just weeks before (and it wasn’t mentioned anywhere that they were chargeable . There was also a £16 service charge added, which I thought was a lot considering we served ourselves! I mentioned this to the staff, and he had the two charges removed without hesitation. And we did still tip (because we are that way inclined, but not as much as £16! but I came away feeling like they had tried to be cheeky to us. It was still a good evening, but sadly it has changed my ‘rave review’ mindset that I had previously from my first visit.

Great buffet for dinner and parties. Food was over the expectation with the price that they have offered. Drinks are amazing (Piña colada) Service was amazing. Suitable for any occasion.

The ambiance is superb,I highly recommend this restaurant for Amazon food and the service makes me feel unique and special.Sony and the entire staff very professional and were Great…I just love sizzler’s Mix grill and buffet is very good for price. Drinks are top class……

Amazing food. Amazing service. Would totally recommend the buffet even the dessert was unreal. Everyone should come here
