Steinbeck And Shaw - Watford

My experience at Steinbeck and Shaw on a busy Saturday evening was disappointing. The atmosphere was still nice and the prices were good, but they were out of Bellinis and didn't have mint for mojitos. My gin and tonic came in a plastic goblet without a lemon slice. While I had a pint glass for my beer, my wife had to settle for a cheap plastic cup. Overall, it was a subpar experience at a cocktail bar we used to enjoy.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the overall vibe was fantastic. Based on my experience, I would recommend this place.

My cousin and I arrived at the restaurant around 3pm, which happened to be the hottest day of the year that Saturday. We sat outside, enjoying people watching and catching up. The staff was attentive and made sure our drinks were always topped up. The staff was friendly and the Mojitos and Pina Colada's were great! We had a lovely afternoon soaking up the sun, and Happy Hour added to the enjoyment. It's a nice place where everyone, regardless of age, is made to feel welcome. I appreciate that.

The service here was appalling. It wasn’t especially buy but took 30 minutes for someone to come to take our drinks order after asking, then another 25 minutes before drinks arrived. Currently it’s not possible to order at the bar (COVID 19 measures) or even enquire if drinks are coming, I saw a member of become annoyed at another customer for asking for their drinks so didn’t want to check on progress in case I got the same response. The lady serving us was nice and clearly doing her best, but the service was incredibly poor. I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you want to spend most of the evening waiting for your drinks to order or arrive.

A nice bar with a good selection of cocktails and other drink, can take a while to get served, but over all not a bad bar.
