The kids(teenagers, a few 21 year olds) always love going here. It's an amazing to place to go on a Sunday or Friday or even during the week. They have coffee, regular and decaf, plenty of games. Plenty of running around space. The bar/dining/ game area are well placed.
So we decided to travel to Wausau to take our twin children to WOW in Wausau for their birthday. What a mistake and what a nightmare. We simply wanted to sign up for laser tag, and play together as a family Where do I begin? For starters, they do not take cash or debit cards. (For laser tag). At least that’s what we were told by the staff that were working here today. So, in order for us to play laser tag my significant other had to use his debit card and put money on one of their WOW cards. Apparently this is the only way to pay for laser tag at WOW in Wausau. Hassle when it doesn’t need to be. The cards. I don’t know how many times my significant other had to go back to the computers (to fill out waivers) because of “card problems.” Some were not registering and I’m not sure what else is going on but in the middle of all of it . . . I requested to use the bathroom while everyone was getting things figured out. One of the girls that works there (with pink hair) literally told me that I could not use the bathroom. We were supposed to start at 12:40 PM, and it was already after that time. I sat and waited for 10 minutes, while she was still sorting things out. At this point, I had to go pretty bad, so I announced that I was going to go. Came back and everyone was gone. She actually started without me. (Let me remind you that we were not starting on time anyways not because of customer issues because of the system at wow) Very rude and disrespectful. Literally had to text my significant other to find out where everyone was. No one (employee) bothered to wait outside, give me instructions, etc. So I ended up missing more than half of the instructions. And then when I got in there, my seven year old daughter was not on my team. She has never played laser tag before and they put her on my 14 year old son’s team. Significant other had to switch with my 14 year old son so that my daughter wouldn’t be completely scared and lost during the event. So any scoring for my SO and/or my 14 year old son will be inaccurate was not assigned to their own code name (which should be part of the package and something they both missed out on). When I verbalized my grievances the girl with the pink hair literally smiled and laughed at me And then told me that I could leave, and that she would not give me a refund. I requested to speak to her boss, Michael Vanderloop. I literally watched as she proceeded To go ahead and set the table for herself (As they were walking from where he was up to me She was giving him her version Of the events that unfolded). By the time he came to me I could tell that he was already on the defense And was not interested in what I had to say. I asked Mike for a refund and he told me no Because my family was in there playing laser tag. I told him that I’m not playing and he said that he would refund me (Which is all I was asking for in the first place). I also asked if there was a formal complaint system and Mike told me that he is it. At this point, I had enough. I was very angry, and I did share that I am bound, determined To find somebody more important than the three of them who does want to hear my story AND that they all need a workshop in customer service. I walked away from the counter and came back a couple of times I watched these two workers (pink hair and the other employee that was working) and Mike continue to talk about me and the situation run their mouth until I could no longer take it and left my family to enjoy their time without me. I am so disappointed with the way things turned out and how rude and completely unhelpful everyone working there was. I plan to tell anyone that will listen to me about my experience today. Danni
We have eaten here at least a dozen times since it opened. This last time the service took the cake for the absolute worst service we have received at a restaurant. It wasn’t busy and we waited over 45 minutes for our waitress to take our order. They forgot about every drink we ordered and we had to go up to the bar to reorder them. The waitress blamed everything on the kitchen staff.
The food is fantastic! They also have gluten free options. The games are fun and the prices are reasonable. A good time always!
