A very nicely styled restaurant in the old Blue Anchor. Booking is I think essential as there aren't a huge number of covers but there are enough to give a lovely buzz'. The service is exemplary not too pushy (but please don't keep coming to top up the wine Wait times for food are spot on. We had the lobster soup and smoked fish board to start both excellent. Hake and sole cordon bleu' to follow with a side of deliciously young, crisp buttery samphire. The wine list if fine although I would've liked to see a white with a little less acidity, (perhaps a Picpoul de Pinet or another white from Herault) but that's just my personal taste. A really lovely evening.

We went to Mark G's at High Street after reading some excellent reviews online one of which even mentioned that Mark G's is not only great but it can very well be a reason to visit Lowestoft. After reading that it is a popular place and that it is often difficult to get a place without a prior reservation, we booked a table ahead. With all these built up, we were disappointed, to say the least. The ambience is most ordinary, the quality of the food is bad (the fish were probably not washed well before cooking), and the service is ordinary as it is in any restaurant. The restaurant was pretty empty and lacked the aesthetic vibe as shown in the pictures on its website and several other online platforms. We didn't experience anything that justifies the price we feel it is overpriced as neither the taste nor the ambience matches the price.

Absolutely lovely food and friendly staff I would definitely go back! The fish was amazing and one of us had steak which was the best steak I had had in a long time!

Brilliant birthday lunch for 18 of us. Service friendly and efficient. Food as always excellent and good value for money. Thank you to all
