I think dogs should not be allowed in which people eat, it is so unhygienic. let them out! There are better, cheaper caffes around, so I suggest they're looking for them.
A beautiful environment in the old forge with shabby chic decor. the walls are decorated with gifts to buy that are always fun to look while waiting to come friends. the atmosphere is very relaxed and there is no hurry to go. Sometimes there is...is a little attention to the detail how a friend recently served a slightly burned croissant. the prices are somewhat high so that you should be able to expect well presented foods and if it were not for this I would have given the cakes are beautiful. Overall, this is such a charming place for coffee and cake with friends in a picturesque village environment.
With a limited menu, one might expect it to be easy for a restaurant to keep ingredients in stock for a sandwich. However, this was not the case at this establishment. They were out of smoked salmon and avocado, items that one would assume could easily be found at a local store. The chef was also quite irritating, making our dining experience less than enjoyable. The atmosphere was never my favorite, and I have no desire to return. I would suggest making the extra effort to dine in Cranleigh instead.
We stumbled upon The Speckledy Hen because we have pets and liked the name! We had previously visited their sister restaurant, The Dabbling Duck, in Shere. We had a light lunch (veggie bagel with halloumi and salad, and cheese on toast with salad) and a pot of tea for two. The service was quick and friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious. The portions were larger than expected (the cheese on toast was a big, thick slice of sourdough bread). The restroom was clean and easy to access. The only downside is that parking can be difficult when busy, so you may have to park a little further away. Because they share staff with another establishment, there may be periods of slower service, but this is understandable for a small, popular restaurant. If you visit The Speckledy Hen, make sure to take a stroll around the village green and admire the scenery. We were too full to try one of their tempting cakes, but we hope to do so next time!
Even though I was greeted by the waitress at the door, it took a while for her to take my order. I wanted a coffee and a bacon sandwich on brown bread, but they were out of brown bread so I settled for white. The coffee was good but the sandwich was just average. There was a lot of noise from the chattering customers in the background. When I went to pay, I was immediately asked for a discretionary tip or if I wanted to pay with cash. It seemed like they were more interested in taking my money than providing good service. It's a shame because the location and building were nice, but the service didn't meet the standards of other cafes in this lovely area of Surrey.
