Wok Star - Waverley

The special fried rice from Wok Star was delicious, as well as the chicken curry. I will definitely be back!

The meal was somewhat disappointing overall. The standout dish was the mixed vegetables in Szechuan sauce, which had a nice mix of vegetables and a decent level of spiciness. However, the other part of my order, which was supposed to be a mixed container with sweet and sour chicken, Hong Kong style beef, and mushroom rice, fell short. The sweet and sour chicken was not prepared in the Hong Kong style I was expecting, as it consisted of bland balls instead of a dish with color and texture variety. The beef and mushroom dish also lacked flavor and did not deliver the umami explosion I was hoping for. It seems like they could have used more mushroom soy sauce in the sauce to enhance the taste. Overall, I was hoping for a more flavorful and exciting dining experience, but was left with mostly bland dishes.

Terrible quality food, and a terrible smell when you walk into the shop, avoid as me and my partner have have dodgy stomachs from this food

Well, I first visited Wok Star a couple of years ago and left them a 5 star review. I visited tonight and wish I could leave a 10 star review. They are by far the best Chinese in the are for service, quality, taste, and value for money. I really can't fault them. Lovely food. Will definitely be going back again.
